On my specialty rods/reels I change it out each season. My basic ones for messing around in my pond, I don't change it until it gets weak or frayed. When I fished tournaments I changed it every two tourneys or so.

Are you intending to go on a fishing trip, or want to pack a rod and reel for an extended camping/walking trip where you need as little as possible to carry.

Crystal River Executive Travel Fly / Spinning Combo, Fly Fishing, Crystal River at Sportsman's Guide

What do you guys think of this? I was thinking of getting one as a wedding gift for a nephew, for his truck.

Defaultmy "in the truck" setup

diawa spinmatic 5' ultra light rod
pflueger president ultralight reel- 2lb trilene test

3pc pflueger 8' fly rod and reel, 4 or 5 wt line

and a handfull of flys, little spinners, spoons, crankbaits, jigs, and pink mr twisters....

with all the trips i've been making in and out of cabelas and bass pro shops for various shooting supplies, i knew it wouldnt be long before i picked up this fishing pastime again.

much cheaper as long as i dont cast into the weeds to much
