Default How much do you think is enough?

If the world comes crashing down around us what do you feel is the min. amount of ammo you need stashed away. For me its:

200 rounds each of 38, 9mm, 40 S&W,45acp
1,000 rounds each of .223, .308, 7.39x39
5,000 rounds 22 LR
500 plus rounds of 12 ga. buckshot, bird shot, slugs.

I feel that this would take care of hunting and personal protection. The vast majority of it is factory and I do have the means to reload more.

That's a good start.

I would look at 1k handgun rounds per handgun and 3-5k rifle rounds per rifle as a minimum. I think your shotgun and .22 supply would be okay.

A min of at least 1,000 per firearm I say. AT LEAST. That being said overkill is underated. It's like too much fun or too much money, can't be had. Go till you feel comfortable. Might wanna get a barrel of your particular favorite brew and a TON of toilet paper as well. You should be fine after that

I keep 1000 a piece for my pistols and 2 - 3K rounds for my "black rifled. I have a few thousand rounds for my 22's And about 1000 12 ga rounds.

AS to what is too much? I don't think as long as you can store it properly there is no too much. I buy more whenever I see a p rice I like and I'll get as much as I can afford to at the time. Those 50 cal ammo cans with the rubber gasket come in handy for storage.Any flea market or sites like cheaperthandirt, Sportsmansguide, armysurpluswarehouse, to name a few.

Really about anything that can help keep moisture out will work fine. I just liek those cans because you can pick up one or two and head out and have plenty with you. And most have the gaskets to keep water out. You might want to add a couiple small packs of the silica gel pack like you get when you buy beef jerky or some electronic thing. AS a just in case.

I have about 4k for my M-14m and for my Mini 14-223, and the same for my AK74-5.28x39, for my mossy 500 12ga, have 250 rounds of exotic rounds for it, try to by at least 1k of rounds a month, alternate between them, still buying freeze dried food every month.
I don't think you can ever have enough, just have a place to cache it, you cant carry it all with you at once.
