No,..you can never have too Much,..but you can have too much of a Caliber you don't shoot anymore(.30-30, 45ACP, ) so we make trades when we need to

what you can easily have is a lot of ammo that your killer gets to use, because he is faster or sneakier than you. All that centerfire ammo is heavy, bulky noisy and expensive. If you are paying today's prices for it, you are foolish. There won't be any hunting or practicing after shtf. The game will all be gone within a very few weeks. The noise will call in your killers. You'll just have to abandon the ammo, unless it's scattered/buried well in a variety of places, at night, protected from freeze-thaw cycle and the water-table. There's far more important things upon which to spend your money. Like training.

A year after shtf, nearly everyone will be dead. then perhaps you can do a bit of trading, but the ammo that they'll want will be .22lr. until then, tho, better just stay below ground, except at night, leave no tracks, make no sound, show no light. Let the fighting, fires, and diseases just pass you by. Have a year's supply of food buried, scattered, so that dogs, etc, finding one of your drums is not a disaster. they can be protected from animals, even from bears, but the attention of dogs can mean the attention of men, too.

How much ammo should one have indeed.

FT should charge for certain recurring threads being posted:

  • How much ammo should I/do you have (including polls)?
  • 870 or 500?
  • .22 centerfire for deer?
  • Where is all the ammo/is ammo really coming back?
  • What one/three/five gun(s) blah blah blah?
  • What is this/how much is it worth?
  • CCW?
  • 9mm or .45?
You forgot ***What is the best scope for under $ amount?

AR vs. AK. Yeah, yeah, yeah...
Look, if I was going for the most obvious it would also include:
"Russian Milsurp are the best guns ever made" and ".22 is all you need for survival."

LOL

More than you can reasonably afford!
