That is just a myth, where there is no evidence Yamamoto ever said that, but it worked great in the movies. And he being a student of Harvard, probably believed that thought though.

LOL

OK. You KNOW this is very subjective, right? I would urge everyone to have one henway for each gun you consider your main arm (and those for each family member) in a particular class (i.e. rifle, pistol, shotgun). Maybe a couple or a few hundred rounds for the others plus another henway of just .22 LR to maintain practice, hunt, and possibly share/trade. The latter takes up little enough room, comparatively speaking, and hopefully will be cheap enough and plentiful again someday.

Now that the argument has been deleted, how about everyone play nice.

About three or four pounds... LOL Thank you Anna -- I knew I liked you!

How much ammo should one have indeed.

FT should charge for certain recurring threads being posted:

  • How much ammo should I/do you have (including polls)?
  • 870 or 500?
  • .22 centerfire for deer?
  • Where is all the ammo/is ammo really coming back?
  • What one/three/five gun(s) blah blah blah?
  • What is this/how much is it worth?
  • CCW?
  • 9mm or .45?

I have a simple formula. We live in Southern Missouri, and Walmart is our go to place for food and most household items. My wife keeps a shopping list in the drawer. It's not uncommon for me to scribble the ammo I need on her list. Right now it's mostly 12 gauge and 380 auto since I reload the rest. But it's a very simple way for me to keep building the ammo base. Can you ever have too much ammo?
