175 is a great yardage to practice at. Just keep in mind that whatever your shot group size is you can double it just to get an idea of what you would be shooting at twice that distance. A 1" shot group at 100 yards will be about 2" at 200 and 3" at 300. Eventually you will need to actually shoot longer ranges to really get good at it, but you can still practice at 175 (or any distance) and work on getting your group sizes down. The fun part, at least for me, is watching groups sizes get smaller and smaller as you and your equipment get better and better.
