The number of magazines is the shooter's preference. I started out conservative. I like to have enough magazines to load a 50-box of ammo. With my 10-round magazine guns I started with 5 magazines, other guns I started with 6 to 7 magazines. But, I like to have enough magazines to complete the shoot from start to finish. Having 10 magazines per gun would be a good beginning.

Storing loaded mags weakens the springs which causes feed problems.

No, I said EIGHT! I have promulgated the OFFICIAL beginning number. Now no-one has to have a different opinion or argue anywhere anymore.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Darn, now I have to get 4 more mags.

Actually, I was just thinking it would be nice to have 4 more mags and now I have an excuse to buy them.

Just out of curiosity what is the beginning number of firearms?

And I think something to add to this is that everyone should have 10-round mags for table-top range trips. The 30-rounders require really high sandbagging, but a 10-rounder is much easier to deal with.

Welcome to FTF. I'm so glad you have an opinion. I'm not sure how you came by this one, but isn't it wonderful that you are able to be so assured of your statement?

It's wrong, though.

Prone shooting with a 20 rnd mag is also a whole lot more comfortable frankly.

Number of guns? Well, you can only shoot one at a time. But guns are collectable, so, I'll have to take that under review.
In the meantime, carry on.
Dismissed.

I've got 11 mags for my AK - 10 30's and a 45.

I've got 9 for my AR, 8 30's and a 10 round mag (you know, the one I keep for the 10 API rounds I keep on hand for those "special situations")

I have 21 loaded mags (all 20's) for my CETME.

I also have a handful of mags for each handgun, and of course, the obligatory boatload of 10, 25, and 30 round magazines for the 10-22.
