Personally I like tapco mags the best. They are strong and so far no problems with any of them.

As far as firearms, I try to alwasy have atleast 3 per pistol. I have 14 AR mags but need more, thats only two per rifle

If a person prefers semi-autos then *hundreds* would be a good number.

I don't think in my area there will be that many on the ground. Most people around here will likely be relying on the old lever 30-30.

I have 35/30rd AR mags " only enough ammo for about half of them right now, 18/ 1911 mags, and 5 high cap Glock mags for my G31.

An interesting if not odd question. One can clearly have too few magazines, but too many? Not sure what that would entail. OK, 50 loaded mags is too much AND too many.
A standard loudout would not have included one in the gun if you were jumping, but no-one carries the minimum loadout anyway. No ammo -- no gun.
So, I will say that eight is the perfect minimum number of mags per AR. Why? Six in two pouches, one in the gun, and a spare at home because one of those mags is already, or will be, bad. Of course, you'll want a bandolier too in a pinch. That might be a disposeable one with another 100 rounds on stripper clips and a mag loading tool, for example, or you might want another loaded six mags (plus another spare) in a different type.
15 is the maximum number -- the maximum number shall be 15!

You can never have too many magazines. They are the one component of a firearm that is most likely to fail. The service life of a mag is usually less than that of the firearm itself. If you pick one up every now and then before you know it you'll have a good stock. Remember, they may not always be available due a ban or a SHTF situation. You can never have too many.
