We have an OEM. He is the only living thing in the house larger than I am.

We did train him in protection. But found out by accident that he will only bite when told to. Not when someone comes in unexpectedly.

A few years ago my buddy came over late in the afternoon. My bride and children were in the back yard, the dogs were inside. We heard some yelling from inside, went to investigate, and he had my buddy pinned on the ground laying on him.

A watch dog is a much better dog in my opinion for suburban life.

Like a Great Dane {if you have the room} or a Rottweiler are good choices. Friendly but strong dogs that will bark at intruders vocally but won't really attack unless they are provoked or threatened....or threaten the owner of the dog.

More often than not the dog is merely a backup alarm to wake you so you can get your protection out and deal with the intruder if need be.

looks like an overgrown neopalitan mastiff...

neopalitan mastiffs look like mastiffs with the head of a sharpei...the wrinkled, sagging skin dogs.

A friend of mine breeds mastiffs, but they must be the neopalitans as they are about 5/8 th's or so the size of yours. Jeeze thats the biggest dog I've ever seen.

Does he slobber all over the place like my friends mastiffs?
