I agree that bartering will be currency at first. Eventually, Gold and Silver will make a comeback in a SHTF scenario. And, it's not a terrible investment now.

^ Agreed ^

Also I think C3's scenario is nicely put.

Yes, it IS perfectly legal to make whiskey at home.

As long as home is not in the US.

Beer and wine? Oh HELL yes! But play with the magic of 172 degrees F, you might as well be making methamphetamines or nerve gas for the legal impact it can have.

BTW, ever heard the Ballad of Bexar County? AKA Copper Kettle?

Get you a copper kettle, get you a copper coil
Fill it with new made corn mash and never more you'll toil
You'll just lay there by the juniper while the moon is bright
Watch them jugs a-filling in the pale moonlight.

Build you a fire with hickory, hickory, ash and oak
Don't use no green or rotten wood, they'll get you by the smoke
You'll just lay there by the juniper while the moon is bright
Watch them jugs a-filling in the pale moonlight.

My daddy he made whiskey, my granddaddy he did too
We ain't paid no whiskey tax since 1792
You'll just lay there by the juniper while the moon is bright
Watch them jugs a-filling in the pale moonlight.

gold has always been and will always be the worlds reserve currency. Occasionally a country will convince the world that Gold is no longer necessary, but it never lasts long.

I have made a conscious decision to not invest in gold and silver...instead I am choosing to invest in lead, steel and gunpowder. It is much more fun to invest in weapons than gold and silver as most of you know!

I for one wouldn't want to go into a town with gold and silver when the SHTF situation happens and wanting to buy anything. By then it'll be too late and anyone on the wayside could have whatever they want from you. Best to stay low and ride it out

It has happened before. The "Pilgrams" were starving at Plymouth Colony. They first accepted charity from the NDNs. They later traded with the NDNs. By trading they found where the NDNs stored their corn and squash etc.
It was then that they killed the NDNs and took every thing. Do you think people have changed?
