This is about a month away on purchasing anyways, so I'm not in that much of a rush. Thanks for the info. Also, are the MOLLE packs modular like the ALICE?

The main pack is like what you see in my pics. Then the MOLLE pouches attach to it. It also has a removable top pocket.

Light years ahead of the ALICE packs. Where are you located?

I'm in Northern Kentucky. Right across the river from Cincinnati, OH. I would prefer to have the entire MOLLE system. As much storage capacity as possible.

The MOLLE rucksack looks like a pretty good fit here. Frame is supposedly better and more comfortable than the ALICE, 4600 ci total capacity, all for about $50...

I'm actually looking at one of the surplus USMC ILBE packs. 4500 cubic inches of storage, EXCELLENT adjustment capabilities, internal frame, can be used with a camelback hydration system, MOLLE attachments, and you can put a rifle on either side of the bag in a pocket... It really is rather nice.

4500 is not too bad. Sounds pretty nice, got pics?

I think thats the arcteryx pack m14 posted about. I'm looking at them on e-bay and such sites, They look pretty similar to the MOLLE ruck except a bit more comfortable...
Perhaps this is the pack that answers the question.

This is a side view of it.

If you'll give me a few minutes, I will shop in where the rifle would go.

Yes indeed! That is the Arc Teryx like the one I bought.

If it fits you, you will LOVE it.

In that case, you know exactly what I mean about carrying a rifle on the side.
