Rotating ammo for freshness may not apply in my house. I have some 12 ga and .25 ammo that don't even have barcodes on the boxes they're so old.

A food vacuum sealer works on ammo and loaded mags... Check every so often because sometimes they lose their seal, but then again, I'm sure they make heavy duty bags, I'm just using food grade...

I know kind of off subject but whats the "best bang for your buck" when it comes to vacuum sealers? What should I look for?

Was at the range yesterday with my boys. 200 rnds or .22LR, 100+ of .35 remington, couple hundred of .410 and 20 ga. thats what they shot.

I got off 15 rounds of .300 whby mag. Breaking in a new barrels and getting it on paper with the new Monarch scope.

btw, 5000 rnds for primary weapons, 500-1000 for secondary. just my two cents worth.

Hi. I'm new here and I just thought I would throw my 2 cents in. I'm a firm believer of never enough ammo. I have bought all the guns I'm going to buy except for maybe one or 2 and now I'm focusing on ammo. I think people should buy ammo as often as they can and as much as possible. I can't put a limit on safety and running out of ammo could be a key factor in that. I say the more the better when the stuff hits the fan.

I make it a point to get 100 to 200 rounds every time me and the wife hit Walmart to go grocery shopping. It has gotten to the point that she grabs the cart and heads to sporting goods first before heading to the food isles.

I'm aiming for 500 of each handgun caliber we own (38 Special and 9mm Mak) to start. I've got 1000 22LR, and a small assortment of 20ga in various loads (skeet loads, turkey loads, etc).
My biggest constraint is the fact that I can't carry all that ammo on me should things go south. 5000 rounds of handgun ammo don't do me much good stored in a house I'm not in. If I lived in a hardened structure like a bunker, I might think staying in place and expending those 5000 rounds a good plan. In my stickbuilt ranch home? No, thanks!
