Agreed! Ebola simply isn't that big of a threat here in its current form. We have an infrastructure in place that would quickly contain it especially since it is so fast acting. Plus contact with strangers isn't part of our culture, which is how ebola is spread. If it ever became air borne then all bets are off but that isn't likely to happen. It simply isn't that type of virus.

I just came across this;

<a href='http://www.newser.com/story/193359/doctors-without-borders-world-losing-ebola-battle.html?utm_source=newser&utm_medium=embed&utm _campaign=story' target='_blank'><img style='width:240px;border-width:0px;' alt='' src='http://img2-azcdn.newser.com/square-image/193359-20140903125523/doctors-without-borders-world-losing-ebola-battle.jpeg'></a>

Ahh, crap. I don't know how to embed a link.

The last time Ebola went airborne was in Reston, Virginia, in the 80s I believe.

No joke. Ebola is a filovurus, one of the most primitive viruses around, and can easily make the jump from primate to man.
In Virginia, when it evolved and went airborne it mutated making it non lethal to humans. A handful of people got it and were hospitalized but none died.

This outbreak in Africa sound like Ebola Sudan, since it has a 50% mortality rate...
An airborne Ebola Zaire, is a slate wiper... 90% of the planet, gone.

I personally believe its airborne, hence the high numbers of people catching it...
Come on, doctors and foreign health workers are catching it... This is something that a standard 'gloves and face shield' isn't stopping.

Airborne, but the governments keeping quiet to avoid panick.

Did you guys read the article? It was pretty critical of WHO, and world govts. in general. Says they're not really doing anything to put a stop to it. I personally don't think it's gone airborne yet. When they reference the health care workers dying, I think they mean the people from there, not the ones the developed world sends. (For the most part.)

Im not worried as much about the ones we know about as the ones we dont. Problem is we do very little in the lines of investigation of folks entering this country legally and we know nothing about the ones that just jump the border without permission. Most of the jumpers end up hiding in places that Ebola could overtake very quickly, then airborne or not, its gonna go epidemic.
