Default Drug Trade in SHTF

...and resulting implications.

For this scenario were going to ASSUME a few things.

America has experienced some type of collapse, or restructuring, like when the Soviet Union collapsed. The federal checks stopped coming. Federal agents and military are shafted, by a government who can no longer pay them.

Canada maintains some type of grip on society... So now were like Mexico, and Canada is struggling, but still going at it.

We know from history, any economic collapse or depression is met with increased drug and alcohol use.

Do you see our Northern border becoming a huge transit point for drugs into Canada, and becoming increasingly lawless and violent as the Canadians try to stem the tide?

Could our northern border spiral into what is now the Mexican northern border?

No, I don't think Canada could control stoppage. However in a SHTF scenerio i think drug runners would have issues with well armed groups trying to steal their goods , guns and ammo

I think the drug runners will switch over to running food.

I think nobody is going to be doing anything but hiding or getting shot. Especially if they try to move in daylight. 200+ million active adults in the USA, and a gun for every one of them.

I'd also tend to doubt that there would be many illicit drugs moving.....who would have the money to buy them? BUT, if they were moving, in the OP's scenario, wouldn't the drugs be coming FROM Canada, into the US?

who would risk any movement, or meeting anyone, after shtf, when being shot in the back is so likely? Ditto catching some disease. trade will have to wait a year, and will be done only for dire needs, like powdered veternarian antibiotics. It won't be for dope., booze, or tobacco. those fools will be long dead.
