Do you mean pack for the dog to carry or just a pack of supplies that YOU will be carrying?

I have seen doggie back packs. Certain kinds of working dogs like to have a 'job' and for them to carry a small pack is okay. If your dog is not in good shape, though, I wouldn't ask it to carry a pack until it's built up some stamina.

As for what I would put in a pack for my dogs survival. Well, food and water,of course. Anything else would just be 'extras'. How basic do you want to get?

I can fit my beagle IN my pack :D She's a ferocious bunny buster and squirrel slayer! :D I let her out and she feeds herself!!

Seriously, I've thought about that too...rawhide chews pack lightly, don't spoil and is better than nothing. We've got a bag of dry snacks as well which is also lightweight, none of that takes up much space either...but she's a small dog.

I'm talking about using my dog kinda like a pack mule. Hes a american bulldog. Hes built like a brick ****house. I've came close to doing dog pulls with him.
I'm torn between something backpack like or a cart kinda like the ones people use to pull there kids behind there bikes.

I got a Mountainsmith pack off Amazon for my dog.
Put 4 days of food in individual ziploc bags, a collapsible bowl, couple vitamin K1 tabs and a 1L bottle of water in it.
Had some treats in it. But, when we hiked with it she couldn't stay focused. The bacon smell was too much.

This ia why you pack YOUR gear on the dog. The dog will eat everything you do and w some doggy vitamins all you will need is meat to feed then. My mute would much rather eat deer/game scraps over dog food

Im thanking about the samething my dog is a grate hunter and loves the water. When we are walking in the woods or walking anywhere for that mater she never goes more than 5 ft from me unless I tell her to. My wife bought her a camo Kevlar wet suet not to long ago.

I would guess some Asian spices, perhaps Korean or Phillipine; probably want some rice with it.

;)

My other "dog" doesnt need to be fed dog food. He despises it in fact. When you have a 205# empirial malamute and a great grey timber wolf you dont need a travelin companion. Unless you have a sigmificant other to take along that is;)
