Ill take my pits anyway in a SHTF situation. They are great companions, always have my back, are quite scary, yet laid back.

That and they are the only dogs I've ha that don't in and hide like little girls when I break out the guns...Unlike the 2 beagles we had growing up

If your not familiar with them then you should look up the Jack Russel Terrier. They would fit the bill perfectly for hunter/killer of small game, since they believe thier ballz clank! They will attack no matter how big thier target is.They also track a blood trail well. They are smart problem solvers when it comes to getting their quarry.

They will also alert to trespassers.

And they're good for hours of entertainment. Those hyper little dogs bounce off the walls like rats on meth.

Moonshiners found out years ago that a goose is the best watch dog. They are far more sensitve to sounds or movement than any dog. They lay eggs and make a good X-Mas Dinner.

I call this one "Skippy".

See what I mean about entertainment value! My cousin had one named Daisy. Her name was quickly changed to Crazy Daisy.

I'm not Jack Russel fan but I can still see how they would be useful, and their biggest advantage is they wouldn't eat near as much as a large dog.

We are rural, have a small farm and plan on bugging-in.

We are in the market for a new puppy now. Looking at
Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, a working farm dog. We have
livestock so alot of the hunting dogs, pits, etc. are not the
best choices for us.

Also if you want a big dog look at an Anatolian Shepherd. Damn.
