Cutting the hide into thin strips, coat these thin strips of hide in fresh blood. Making sure you have a good coating, rub sand into the blood coated hide strips. Allow to dry to tacky.

There ya go.

It works. Sand isn't always easily available though. Just means you may have to dig a little.

Most whistles have a cork ball on the inside. If it gets wet, it expands, thus turning your whistle into, well, something that doesn't whistle.

Odds are good, at least here in the PNW, that if you are in the outdoors, you will be getting rained on, and heavily, so having things that work when wet is paramount in choices for my BOB.

JetScream works just fine, wet or dry.

Like $70 USD a piece for each, built to our stupidly, ridiculously over-built specs.

But wet and cold or wet and hot really makes no difference. Which is why I asked about the ice water. Was just curious.

And yeah, I know how cold it can getup there. I was a rig welder in northern PA for a number of years.

I would say perhaps you have not been dating the right men if this is your view.

Well, I happened to be drinking it at the time I started the tests.

Tell me about it, one January I got called out to a NOMAC rig because they crowned out the block and needed someone to gouge out the four inch wide, twelve inch long pins that became fused after the impact. Eighteen hours swinging from an ass wagon a hundred and five feet from the rig floor was not a fun day. But at least it paid well.
