I got the chance to speak to Lynn Thompson of Cold Steel at the NRA convention. I asked when these would be out, he told me that they were on the boat and would be sharpened when they hit the shore.

The sharpening job was atrocious. Burs up and down, crappy bevel, looked like a rush job.

This performs no machete task well.

However, a quality gladius sword is very pricey. The design is just not as popular as the katana, so fewer are produced.

This is an excellent Roman style beater sword, and in that respect, worth it for that purpose, but it has no place in a BOB.

For machetes, nothing beats the CS Kukhri.

Except, maybe....

So a good one?

Forget that Wal Mart $6 dealie.

But on the other hand, expensive isn't always better.
Again, bang for the buck for me is the Cold Steel Kukri. Definitely worth the weight for all it can do. And yes, it is on the BOB.

We were discussing the ultimate kukhri. Something that could pull duty as a knife, a machete, an axe. Something that you could run through Hell, and it would still function.

We searched. We found that it did not exist.

So we had it made.....

Cold Steel's offering could not, under the best CS guided tests, compare with the Kukri that Benning/TWMIM and I designed and had produced.

This thing is a MONSTER!

I wouldn't say we have actually "hid" it from anyone.

Here is a picture that can be found in another thread concerning blades.
