Default DIY: homemade tailgator/camping/SHTF spice rack

IMO this is a cool trick to make your own travel spice rack for whatever.
This is something most everybody can do with what they already have around the house.

What you'll need:
straws (clear work best)
heat source (I waited till my wife went to work and used her hair thingy)
scissors
spices, sauces, oils of your choice

Perks:
solid container (beats a ziploc bag)
small funnel (just makes loading the spices easier)
silica packet (meh)

It's pretty simple.
1. Using heat seal the bottom of a straw.
2. Load your spice. I used ¼, ½, and 1 teaspoon increments. Play with it, use what works best for you. I loaded small amounts of pepper, large amounts of sugar.
3. After loading your spice cut the straw leaving enough room to seal the top.
4. Seal the top...

Load up various straws. Make whatevers you want. If you don't have clear straws just use a Sharpie to label each stick.

*TIP*
If you use your wife's hair thingy to seal your straws, clean the evidences before she gets home. Ask me how I know.

As Emeril says...BAAM! That's it. You're finished.

I'm limited to 4 photos, so here are a couple more. I used a 60dr. pill bottle as my container for my straws. You can order them online, but usually you have to buy in bulk. If you know a local mom n' pop pharmacy they will probably give you their empties.

Here's a larger picture of a finished packet.

For my future straws, I'll leave more empty room at the top end of the straws to make cutting them open with a knife easier.

Seven,
That right there is handy! Way to go. Light weight, air tight, moisture proof, spill proof.

That sir, is going in the backpack on the next trip.

Most excellent Seven!

With as much camping that I have done, I need to ask, "...why didn't I think of this?"

More good stuff from the members of the FTF!

So how big of a conniption did your wife have?

Great idea! I'm going to do some experimenting with the vacuum sealer to see it the heating element will work for this.
