Default Declining In Standard of Living?

I'm gradually noticing a decline in our standard of living, at least in this area. It seems declining wages and inflation are really starting to show. It's especially showing among the young people. Their cars are getting older and more run down. I can't count the number of vehicles that have to open their doors at drive thru windows because their electric windows don't work. I've also been surprised at how many walk to work because they don't have a car. Every one of them has a smart phone but most don't seem to have much else. They talk about McDonald's dollar menu like most of us use to talk about McDonald's regular menu back when their regular menu was the cheap food. When did copper and steel become valuable enough to actually steal?

I'm in no way knocking anyone for not having much (I've been there) but it just seems like the overall standard of living is really on the decline for a lot of people and I'm not sure how many have even noticed?

I was just wondering if anyone else is noticing the same things in their areas? And if so, do you think this going to be a long term trend?

And the title should be "Decline in Standard of Living" instead of "Declining". It started as "Declining Quality of Life" but then I realized that decline in the standard of living doesn't necessarily mean a decline in quality of life but that's a different can of worms.

For some reason my buddies seem to be doing fine, but I'm maintaining at best. I am no better off today than 10 years ago. Every company I work for goes under or gets bought. There aren't many companies hiring or training new people. I'm a middle manager with a college degree. Health care costs are hurting my family. That and gas prices. And food prices.

I'm doing ok but only because I don't have to support a family. I'm a quality engineer and not really making any more than when I was a young production worker if you look at what I can actually buy with what I make. If I were a young production worker today I would be hurting even without a family to support.

My standard of living has fallen quite a bit, but I have had many significant life changes in that time as well. Kind of goes with the territory. I am fortunate that I still have a roof over my head- for the time being anyhow.

In the Socialist system the elitist take all they want. They then pass laws to control what is left. The New Normal in America is high unemployment and living on government entitlements. Minimum wages and unemployment pay was considered a temporary situation until one could improve his future. Now these are permanent controlled incomes with no future.

I'm basically 1/3rd own of a small heavy equipment repair company, so I know what you mean. We haven't had a good job in months. It sucks, but I'm hopeful...

As to young kids, I'm 23 by the way, I'd say most of the issue is that they don't want to work. It's easier to borrow, steal, cheat, scrap, etc. I know a lot of people around my age and it's like a rampant disease, laziness.

I think you need to actually look up what socialism is: you don't seem to have a clue.

Not going to get better soon. Obamacare has reduced everybody to part time jobs and it's getting worse. If it isn't stopped it's going to bring this country completely down. The inflation isn't helping either, but hey let's print more money and raise the debt ceiling. How anybody can't see what these liberal democrats are doing is beyond me. When it all comes crashing down it's going to get ugly.

These guys are far worse than socialist, they are arrogant thieves and liars. Socialism at this point is the least of our worries.
