Book heads up.
I found an awesome book by Readers Digest at my local library. Called Back to Basics.

It included great color illustrations and covers solar power, wind and hydro, but also all early colonial skills including raising livestock, black smithing, skinning, stoves, building log cabins. Canning, etc...

Good read very informative, and full of great ideas.

That sounds quite useful. How old is it?

I have to check the date. It looks old. I'd guess 80s maybe.

I have a couple of old popular mechanics books somewhere. They have some pretty usefull info in them as well.

I've got that one and yes it is a great book to have. I believe c3shooter also recommended it before. :)

I would also recommend it. It covers black smithing, canning, digging wells. I have two copies

Glad to hear some FTFrs are in the know!

Imagine!... A society rebuilt after the collapse. A society with no class warfare!

Class 3 registration that is!!!

Used copy over on Alibris for about $12. In several sujects, it is a mile wide and an inch deep, but it is a great starter in dozens of subjects- and may prompt you to do some related reading and learning.

And yes, it is one the the books in my "Aw CRAP!" section of MY library.

Amazon had new and used listing.
Some of the 'new' prices are sky high. A used one should be fine. I don't think many readers digest books got used a lot :)

Mines a hardback. The coloration makes it look old, but the condition of the pages is like new.
It's definitely a great book to give you ideas.
