The best heck hit the fan handgun would be a revolver due to its ruggedness and simplicity. If it had to be a semi auto, I would choose a glock simply due to the universal consensus that its a highly reliable semi-auto.

The one you're comfortable with... That also has a .22 conversions kit.

I agree, in a SHTF situation you definitely want the ability to fire in both a combat round and .22

LOL! We must be in a SHTF scenario right now, because I'm locked in a battle with rust, as my pistols sit in their safes, unfired, wishing they had .22 conversion kits.

My Remington 1911 45acp at 30 yards shot 13/16" with a three shot group.
Now my S&W 686 357 mag regularly shoots 1.5 inch groups at 100 yards.
The reasons I would go with the 357 is it had adjustable sights, and that it has a bit more energy.

Don't even go there. When the news erroneously reported that an armed citizen dropped a dude at 400 yards with his revolver, I called them out on it... Then people on FTF came out of the woodwork, with stories galore of magic revolver skills...

Been many a time i was sitting in my stand with a crossbow and deer walk right under me out to 35 yards ,hard to miss with my 45 on a 15 inch vitals zone on whitetail coulda dropped quite a few with my 45 in tree stand if it were legal, the 45 acp with a
+p hp is more than enough medicine for a deer, shot placement is more important than anything. But i have taken deer with my new model blackhawk convertible with 45 acp cylinder down in tenn they never went far. Most times depends on the ammo and shot placement.
