Thanks: I want to try making bean hole beans this summer. I do remember them as a kid on the farm. Now if it ever stops snowing and warms up enough to dig a hole. Cold bean sandwich with a little mustard and a side of slaw.

Florence williams, Here we go...... " some slices of Lard, some butter, some slices of onions,a little oil and put to fry the all in a pot. Cut then the rabbit into small pieces and put with the rest. When that is drying add one or two spoonfulls of flour and well rouse the whole. Next add one quart of wine white or red, some parsly, and a leaf of Bay, salt and pepper. Make it to cook on a fire very slowly. Empty it on a plate hot and then it eat............French canadian style............

Some of the old timers lined the sides of the pot with smoked bacon, stops the beans from being burnt and sticking to the pot..........
