Having trained on the AR platform in the Army that is what I chose to go with as I am familiar with it. My next rifle will be a bolt action chambered in .308 Winchester. I am sticking with standard NATO ammo for the availability of ammo.

I'd really like to get the LMT .308, with a good scope, and a 45 degree mount for a doctor optic red dot.

The 700 can be made into a rifle by adding a M-16 type of extractor. Without the change no. A 700 in 308 with a 700 extractor is
a very weak setup.

I know what you meant with your question I choose to pick a different caliber. If you really want me to pick between those two I'd say the 9mm sir.

I go with Glocks because they function everytime, require minimal maintenance, and I have about enough mechanical skills to hang a paper towel holder on a wall. If something goes wrong, instead of being up & running again in 10 mins, I'll have a bunch of screws all mixed up and probably won't even be able to find my hammer to put it back together.

I know nothing about ARs or AKs other than I want one (eventually maybe both). But based on the criteria why I go with Glock, from the reading I've done over the past month or so, the AK-47 is the best fit for me. Does this sound like a pretty fair analysis.

Sorry for resurrecting a zombie thread. But I thought there's already enough AK v AR threads--just haven't found my thoughts specifically addressed.
