You might also go to one of the large gun shows in your area and check on some of the Israeli Military surplus ammunition. Usually in cans! I have shot it and it always worked well! There are other good 7.62 (308) military surplus ammunition also that is good for stocking up! Some here on the forum will add others that are good to the list from experience!

Ammo to go has always been good to me:

200 rounds for $125 or 20 rounds for $13: MILITARY SURPLUS : Ammunition To Go

Blue box Federal is less expensive and shoots decent groups.

If your into precision and saving money then reloading might be worth considering? Being able to reload is a good skill to have but probably not worth it unless you shoot regularly.

Federal Power Shok is my favorite. Groups well and is inexpensive.

If you are about precision, then you aren't going to find cheap + accurate ammo without reloading. However, if you don't want only soft-point stuff, and are willing to potentially "settle" for 1MOA out of a .5MOA rifle, then you can find some stuff down into the ~$7/20 range, like this:

AMM-7340 - Ammo .308 Win. TulAmmo FMJ 150 Grain 20 Round Box Made in Russia 2800 fps Steel Cased Polymer coated.

However, you can load quality ammo for about $20/50 (i.e. $8/20), not including cases, if you are willing to get into it. Though, reloading takes a pretty good investment so it would take several hundred rounds to break even.
