I started hunting when I was about 6 yo by going with my dad squirrel hunting. I began carrying my single shot Stevens .22 alone at about 8 on my grandfathers farm.
I guess that my dad and grandad were the ones who really got me started. I bought an old 12ga. single barrel and really took over the rabbit population there too.
I quit hunting for about 10 years beginning with the passing of my wife in 1999 but started back this past deer season by joining a really good club. I will be 66 in July and hope to be able to hunt for a few more years.
When I graduated from the Univ and sent to work for Kraft Foods I ended up in eastern NC and several of the guys there were avid quail hunters. We would hunt almost every day of the quail and dove seasons. We kept our hunting clothes and shotguns in our car trunks.
I took up deer hunting with rifle then bow and later muzzle loader here in Georgia and I guess that I have taken more than 175 deer over the years.
I decided last season that I would only hunt with military rifles so I hunted only with my M1A's and M1 Garand. I took two deer with the M1A and this year I plan to use the Garand exclusively. I will be using the M1A in Montana next October for elk and mule deer.
I love good venison and eat it as often as i can. My feeling though is that if a man goes hunting he should be intent on eating his quarry. Maybe that is the reason I have never had the urge to shoot a bear.
I just love to be in the woods alone and be able to enjoy nature on a one on one basis. There is always something to see and enjoy cause the woods in middle Georgia are full of all kinds of animals. Now I can't wait for the trout season to begin and for the crappie to start running.

Most of what I can say about hunting has been said here. I started very young and our family has always been subsistance hunters and today more than ever. Hunting and fishing and preserving and processing our fish and game is critical to our life style. My sons grew up hunting deer and bear and now we are teaching the the grandson.
To me the hunt is the joy . The solitude of the woods the knowledge that you are just another of God's creatures in the wild maybe the top of the food chain but where I hunt you can become the food as well. I never kill without a reason food is usually that reason but I take fur and protect what is mine.
We smoke it can freeze it grind it into sausage jerk salt it . you name it variety is a good thing.

Hunting and fishing has been a great friend and counselor. I have confide in these two for a total of 26 years tis far and look foward to a many mores years to come. I was afflicted with polio as an infant, which has left me with little use of my legs. I walk on crutches and leg braces, but this has not stopped me from living a full life this far. I grew up for the most part having access to woods, lakes, streams, and little else. Climbed plenty of trees and broke plenty of leg braces falling out of them. Lost untold amounts of crutch tips in soggy marshes and soft woods. So hunting and fishing came naturally. I grew up with a 22 bolt action Marlin, single shot 20 guage savage, and my grandfathers saddle rigged Winchester 25/20. Wish I still had that gun. Never saw it again once I left for college. Woodcock and partridge hunting is by far my favorite things to hunt. Plus, partridge and woodcock marry very well in a pot. It makes for a great woodland chicken dinner. I love to deer hunt, but age and fatigue is catching up to me. I can't trek the 4 miles like I use to as a kid. I am not that old but since my upper body has overcompensated for my legs, my upper body has accelerated wear. Shoulders are starting to hurt. I have pretty much given up the rifle for a handgun hunt now, much easier to carry. Plus it does make it more challenging. When my body gives out I will have the joy of knowing that I have passed my knowledge to my kids. I will take solace in the ability of my kids to provide for their families.

Who/What
My Dad, Where we Lived and Tradition.
Type
Water Mocassins and other venomous snakes
Why-
In Florida we went on Hunting trips with my dad when I was 4-10 years old.
Also, where we lived there was a pond and the pond was full of Water Mocassins. So my dad thought, If I got a BB gun I could have fun and Make it safer around the house. Hitting a 3ft water Mocassin at 20 yds swimming in a Semi-Zig-zag pattern sure does help you practice your shots.

Now I hunt Becuz I can escape my family for a few hours.... Need anymore reason than that?

How Long-
Of Hunting Normal game, This is my first year. Of Water mocassins, I have about 6 years

Weapon- Daisy BB gun, Shovel and or machete.
(for night hunting Mocassins, a flashlight and a Good pair of Jeans and Boots help.)

There are plenty of hunting related sights on the interwebz. Hunting gear can be had at most sporting goods stores. Even Wally World.

do you somehow promote what you do? or where do you buy stuff for hunting?

I think it would be wonderful if there were a website that would tell about safety rules and passed experiences of professional hunters.....
and maybe would sell qualified tools, and not false ones as I saw in a few places.

Also, I saw a few Military looking layouts, and they appeared to be for guns....haha
......huh?

Well, Do you call normal everyday topic,(even in School), generally Gun-related or Hunting-based being promoting what you do? Because if it does then YES, If it's not... then I guess Obession is the word....

DefaultGo & Git It !!!

1)I hunt because I love to and because I was forced through curcumstances to stop for a long time.

I want to hunt Deer in Ohio & WVA, Boar & 'Gator in FLA, and Javalina in Texas.

The 1st two I plan on this year & next but the Javalina I don't know when that will happen.

Anyone hunt Black Bear in Southern Ohio,WVA or KY?

2) I hunt because this is one of the freedoms the Left want taken away from us. They don't believe in it in so no one should be able to. Just ask The Animal Rights People.

No experience I have had in my life as of yet compares to the two hour period of time I spent in a blind waiting for some Hogs.

I saw Deer, Wild Turkey ( Toms & Jakes), Hogs, Crane, Turkey Buzzard, and a crazy Owl.
