I have decided to go west for p. dogs. I think summer time would be great. Where are some good places to go and how would one go about finding places to shoot? BTW, I don't care anything about going to hunt big game just to have the trophies. I worked in a taxidermists shop as a younger man for several years and got over saturated with game mounts of all kinds and from all places. I just don't care about hanging up heads all over the house.

I travelled south of Boise city, OK. They have farms all over that place that have them. The farmers are friendly and want all shooters they can get. We stay at the Black Mesa State Park camp ground on the north side of Boise. They have RV hook up and showers, mule deer walked thru the camp every morning. Prairie dogs were in the state park too!

Alaska is more expensive than Africa, but the political situation is MUCH more stable and safe there. Unless you are in VERY good physical condition don't even think about hunting sheep or goats in AK!
You can hunt bo unguided but not moose. Even to hunt them will require a lot of physical activity and a lot of travel by plane and/or boat. Wolf's are more of an extra, target of opertunity in AK.
I agree with your premises, there are only a few hunting seasons left for those of our 'vintage'!!!

Contact Mike Henry in Douglas,WY. I have not seen him for several years, but he has a ranch there and has deer, antelope, elk and prairie 'rats' to hunt.

If your guide is wise he will not rely on a 'hand gun' as your back up!!!
