Walmart has a Bushnell 4-12x40 that's typically in stock in sporting goods. They're about $68. I got a few a couple years back for $35 each and ran then on a .22, .223, .270, and 30-06. They all held perfect Zero for hundreds of rounds. Thousands in the 22 and 223 .
Leupold 3-9x40 vx-II should be about $200-300. Lifetime warranty.
Or, Midway USA has the Simmons Whitetail Classic 5-20x50 that's lifetime warranty for $109. It it too much scope for a 30-30, but its decent glass for a fair price.
I used a cheap Bushnell on an '06 that really never got shot much and the reticle turned inside the tube to about 7 and 37 on a clock face.
Your gonna have some that buy cheap scopes and some that buy better expensive scopes.. I've tried the el-cheapos and some last and some don't.. What I've found is that if you only shoot your Rifle once or twice a year, sure the cheap scope is great man, never had a problem with it.. don't know why everyone bashes them..bla bla bla. We get it.. If you enjoy shooting and shoot 100+ shots a year then spend the money on something that will last..
