Glad to hear the first hunt was a good day!

Those Enfield are some very nice rifles!

My first deer hunting gun was my fathers 1917 Eddystone 30.06. Weighs 10 pounds, and holds 6 +1 Rounds, with a 28 inch barrel. heavy, but no noticeable kick. Just a soft push.

I wish I could've held on to my first deer rifle which was also a Remington 742 woodmaster chambered in 30-06,which I bought from my newspaper route.
Unfortunately my 742 developed bolt and receiver locking lug fatigue to the point I couldn't manually push the bolt forward to get the rifle to fire any longer.

I first started with a 6.5x52 carcono the carbine with iron sights. I will never forget my dad took me to the local gun shop we picked it out of a literal 35 gallon drum and carried it up to pay for it. The only thing the clerk was worried about was that it had a strong bore. He never flinched when I threw my 25 dollars on the counter and walked out the door with the rifle. That season in fact two weeks later using that little rifle I dropped my first buck. My dad took a buck w his 6.5 later that week. I still have them both in the safe. Those are two that will never go anywhere !!
