Never noticed that. A friend of my fathers and the man he got a little "juice" off of. Never partook himself but used it to pay back favors and as a gift now and then.

I had to look that one up,what little I read about the cartridge the ballistics didn't look too bad for deer hunting.

I here ya on the fmj's and being young and not knowing any better, when I started deer hunting it was an 06'....And I was using 200 or 220 grain bullets, because I didn't know any better when I was 11 years old

Those sks rifles i'm sure have taken a lot of whitetail.
It's always a regret selling firearms,i've only sold one,a shotgun when I was 17 years old and at 49 ,I still regret selling that gun.

I definitely agree MOshooter,,, my Mauser in 7 Rem mag., has taken deer, elk, bison, hogs, and if I had my shot, I would not be afraid to take a grizzly with it,, provided I had my .500 Wyoming Express on my hip and a good man with a heavy rifle behind me,,, but I have no desire to hunt bear, I just know how effective a 160 Nosler Partition is on game and that rifle will put them exactly where you place the crosshairs. Be it a .458 or a howitzer, if you don't hit them in the right spot you are SOL.

My first deer rifle was an Italian 6.5mm Carcano, model 91. The SP ammo came from Philip J. Medicus by Railroad Express. My Dad and i killed numerous deer with that gun.
