Default What Was Your First Deer Rifle

Just wondering what most hunters started out with for deer hunting?

I started with the 30-06 when I was 10 or 11 years old which was a Remington 742 Woodmaster that I purchased brand new from Walmart,I delivered a bunch of newspapers for that rifle. lol

The first rifle I used was a ruger 44 mag carbine. I just purchased my first true deer rifle recently. It's a Ruger American in 270.

Mine was a Remington 770 when I was nine. Shot a few good deer with that rifle. I am 15 and getting an AR-15.

Marlin lever action 30-30. Killed a 6 point buck first time in the woods.

I climbed up a pine tree and sat on a limb just at daylight. Sho-nuf a buck appeared out of nowhere about 30 yards away.

My first deer killer was a Mossberg 500. Today I have nice rifles but I still prefer to hunt with a shotgun. It's hard to do more damage than a shotgun flinging an ounce of lead.

A 1961 Remington Model 760 Gamemaster in .30-06, I was 20-something at the time, so that would have been in the early 1980s. I think I sold it at roughly the same time I sold my 1st handgun, my S&W 586 .357, needed the money. my cousin still has and hunts with the 760.
