Just came across this video, this is the ammo I am using;

http://bearingarms.com/ammo-review-223-winchester-64-gr-power-point/

Whitetail season starts in two weeks, been scoping out an area with a lot of activity, a little meadow about 100 yds across. I will post pics when it happens!

The farthest I have shot deer at is 120 yards and it didn't take but one step and a jump. From where it was when hit to where I found it was 7 yards I think. The bullet had complete penetration.
Try this, Shoot LC 5.56. Higher velocity and not so much bullet drop at 300 meters compared to .223.

At 25 meters you can shoot a zero target and have to same POA and POI at 300 meters. Just a Q? Is you barrel rated for 5.56?

This is what I use for hog hunting and have dropped 180 LBers @ 200 meters.... I have also shoot deer here in Ga ftom 200 meters to 20 meters and the have fallen wjere they once stood

Last year I carried a Mossberg MVP into the deer woods with me so it was rated for 5.56, but now I am packing a how's 223, so no it is not. I haven't owned a AR for a year or so now. Looking at getting another one, but haven't come across the right deal yet. :-)

I would use something in the 65gr range and the Barnes TSX has redefined caliber size as far as minimums go.As long as the 223 is legal where you hunt go with it but use a good bullet. FRJ

Taken with a 53 gr Barnes TSX-FB. Quartering away shot.
Beautiful shot placement, did not lose any meat and it ran
a whole 20 yards, hit the ground dead, bled out internally,
large wound channel, not so fun to field dress.

Check out the 55gr and 62gr Hornady interlock. One of the best, but most underrated SP's out there.

Twenty two caliber rifles are not sporting nor even legal for deer. Use enough gun or don't shoot.

Why not use a larger caliber? Nothing to brag about that you don't care!

Your information is simply wrong.

Its a gear quote. But people hunt whitetails all the time with 223/556. With good ammo selection the .223 works great inside of 150 yards.
