Scout rifle

Anyone on the forum hunt with military weapons? Not sporterized Enfields or Mauser 98. Scoped rifles in milspec trim.

I hunt with most of my military firearms all in mil spec configuration so no scopes unless it's specifically a sniper model. I use my Mosin Nagant M91/30, Mosin Nagant PU scoped M91/30, Springfield Trapdoor from 1886, and ocassionally my Type 38 Arisaka.

Yes I hunt with my Mil Surps. With the scout configuration. I have used with great results, Yugo M48, 91-30, m44 and Turk mauser M38. They are great.

i have not yet but i think i would really like to take out one of my mosins in the coming seasons

I have used my Mosan, several different SKS's, a M-14, a SOCOM and ever took a deer with a AK-47. Have only used a scope on the M-14 and SOCOM. 7.62x39 is a real popular round for taking deer at moderate range (200 mtrs and less).
I have a standard Mosan but am looking into having it tapped for a scope.

Rifle is an Fabrique Nationale Columbian mauser rechambered in 30.06 for the columbian gov't in the 50's. Scope mount is from B square. All that is needed is to remove the rear sight and replace it with the B square mount. Scope is an NC/Star 2 power. Pistol scope w/illuminated reticle. Sight picture is good. Sure is a whole lot better than the mil sight. Must have been sighted @ 250 yrds. To hit paper @ 100 point of aim was at or near the bottom of the target rack! Need to get to the range to check this rig out.

I do! My mosin 91/30 has a redfield revoulution 4-12x40 on top of it. This is not one of those scout mounts I used the rock solid base which drills two holes in the top of the reciver and one on the side. Shoot moa all day at 100 yards with Privi Partisan but have just began loading for it so I am intrested to see how it works:D

Also I had to bend the bolt on it to mount the scope. For even greater accuracy i somewhat free floated the barrel, piller beded the action, and used accurglass to bed the action.

I have a Garand in 7.62 that I've taken hunting. Haven't killed anything with it yet, but maybe next year.
