Default Savage weather warrior 25-06 or Savage 10/110 260

I'm in the market for a new deer rifle. Right now I've got a Remington 7600 243 that will put three shots in a quarter at a hundred every time. My ol lady bagged her first buck with it and has kinda took over it. I like the 25-06 caliber u used to have one in a tc encore. I'm really interested in the weather warrior but at the same time I like the idea of the 24" heavy barrel on the model 10. I am concerned this may get heavy lugging around the deer woods. The rifle is going to primarily be a deer rifle, although I have been known to go out and pop a coyote at 450 from time to time. Most of my stands a 200 hundred yard shot is max, but I do have some stands on bottom fields that a 500 yard shot may present itself. My best buck was shot at 350 with a 270. Any suggestions would be appreciated I'm bout to worry myself to death trying to decide. Oh one more thing whatever rifle I end up getting is going to have a heavy scope on it. Bushnell elite 6500 2.5x16x42

If I was getting a big scope like that I would definitely get a lighter barrel. But I don't know how far you are willing to lug it.

Also I've heard the 260 will perform in a short barrel. The one in lookin at us 24. I've also heard the 25-06 needs Atleast 24 to take full advantage of the cartridge. The one I'm lookin at is 22. Out to 500 yards would the 22 suffice?

Typical hunting is only a couple of rounds so the heavy barrel is just extra weight unless you are a really bad shot and you need 10 to hit anything. If you load your own, you can tailor the round to the barrel length by using a slightly faster powder.
