Preserving pelts

How do you preserve the pelt of an animal?

Marlinman 04-15-2012 07:38 PM

Stretch it, flense it, then rub it in salt. After stretchin it and flensen it good i rub the skin side down w salt the roll it up and put it in a bread sack in the freezer. I usually stretch em just as long as it takes to flense em and rub a little salt on the skin side.

Thank you for the information.

Your welcome. I use a dull knife or a jagged piece of metal that doesnt have any SHARP edges/points on it.
