I would do it just for the laugh....

OK, so I set up at 600 yards. If I don't know the velocity or the correct moa adjustment is it unethical?

Lots of guns and ammo are capable, the average shooter, not so much.
So, what is the MOA adjustment on the scope? how many clicks for a 1/4" scope?

Wow, glad I missed this a year ago!

I seriously doubt you can shoot 300 yards though if you don't even know how far that is.
Depends on the game! For Whitetail, a .308 could do it. My 6.5x55 can, my 8x57 can, and my 7mm Rem Mag can. I don't see a reason for a mag at 300 yards. Unless you are hunting the mutant Chuppa whitetail from he!!.

With a 100 yard zero a 130gr Hornady at 2900fps MV drops 12.6" at 300 yards.
So I need to know, where are all these magic .270's? More internet BS.
This is the crap that should be deleted.

I did see my brother shoot a Mule Deer at 516 yds. with a .270, 130 gr. Federal Premium Nosler Ballist Tip.. I ranged it for him. He had a Savage mod. 111.. topped with a LR Leupold , not sure on the exact one. The bullet entered the rib cage and never exited..One hell of a shot. He knew the gun and the scope, and I think he was pushing the limit of this cal. and bullet. Some on here state that they have shot several 600 yds shots and ALWAYS a clean kill shot is hard to swallow, but who am I to Judge..must be in that 1% of Marksman in the world..Good Luck on your choice and don't let a Forum and others opinions discourage you from improving your abilities as a Marksman.
This 516 yard shot had a bullet w/ 950fpe and had dropped 55". It is hard to believe. Even w/ a 5mph cross breeze that is 11.6" drift. A slight heavy pull on the trigger, 20+". Lets not forget, that bullet has just enough energy for an ethical whitetail shot. Some times it is just dumb luck or BS.

Nchunt I have no beef with you. My beef is with axxe55. He is the one that has called me a poser repeatedly. I intend to bust his chops each and every time I get a chance. If I get banned over it it's for the best. I have never gained a thing from an internet forum. It's just a way to pass time.

I live less than 50 miles from you. I wouldn't hunt with you for a million dollars. I don't hunt with people I am scared to turn my back on.
JD, a question for you. if you have never gained anything from a forum, then why are you even here?

a huge majority of us like coming here and sharing information. helping to teach those new to guns about them. learning about new guns and even learning new things about old guns.

and many of us take that seriously to the point that weonly want the newbies to learn the incorrect information and to be exposed to the truth and the facts, so they can make educated decisions with that correct information. several times i have caught you giving incorrect information and i have called you on by asking you to submit proof to back up your statements and for which i have linked to my posts proof that you were posting wrong information.

now i really have no idea whether you are a poser, or a liar, or just wrongly informed about things and haven' a clue as to what you are talking about, but many and most of us here try to post as correct and truthful information as possible. most of us make the effort to make sure our online presence has as much crediblity as we do in the real world outside of the internet. and if you think i have a beef with you, well not really. if something doesn't sound right, then i will ask for verification or proof of those statements. i do it to many people if something they post doesn't sound right to me. many of us do it all the time. i personally have been challenged about statements i have made for which i have provided proof to substantiate my statements.

like i said, most us like being here. if you don't think this forum is worthy of being truthful and honest, then you are more than welcome to find other forums more suiting to your tastes and needs. this forum is one of the greatest, and many of feel like it's a social gathering when we are here. now by no means am i telling you to stay or go. you are the only one who can decide whether this forum is worthy of your needs.

so you have a good evening sir, and God Bless you.

With a 200yrd zero the bullet drop would be between 6-9in depending. No magic involved.

i did a comparison of my 280 Rem. vs. my 7mm Rem. Mag. with both using Hornady 139 gr SST SuperPerformance ammo. the results were interesting.

280 Remington.

MV/ME 3090/2946 @ 500 yards 2172/1456

using a 200 yard zero drop is 35.70 @ 500 yards.

7mm Rem. Mag.

MV/ME 3240/3230 @ 500 yards 2293/1622

using a 200 yard zero, drop is 32.10 @ 500 yards.

I got rid of my 7mm Rem Mag Ruger M77. The gun itself was not a great shooter but I fell in love with the round. It's on my list

I just got a 7mm Remington magnum. I love it but I hear mixed reviews about the cartridge.
