J&G has had them for $79.00 + shipping for several years. Theirs include the accessories as well. You should be able to find one for $100.00 otd at most gun shows which might be cheaper. __________________ Chuck Yeager said, "It's the man, not the machine." |

I got mine from AIM Surplus last month for $79 but they charge a $15 handling fee.
The gun was a 1939 and was in great condition. I was able to put 20 rnds thru it and it shot great. Sure is a fun gun to shoot. Last edited by Mick3411; 01-16-2012 at 02:23 AM. |

Check with your local gun shop . You may find they can get one in so you can see and feel for the same 95 dollar range ,or less. We can at others. |

The real question is, why the hell not? Cheap rifle, many cases less than $100, reasonably accurate, cheap ammo. It's heavy, not too pretty, and generally not as accurate as a brand new in box hunting rifle of a reputable maker, but damn, it's less than half the price of a savage axis or weatherby vanguard and still does the job.
Personally, in a bolt action rifle, I'd like to have a new model 70 (or a pre '64, but these new ones are supposed to be a throwback with CRF), but I don't have 800 laying around for a rifle of my choice that will only get used regularly for about 1 month a year. __________________ LONG LIVE THE REPUBLIC!! |

Then why not build something you would want to shoot more than one month a year. Don't throw your money away. Keep an eye on your local pawn shop. |

I didn't say "shoot" I said "used regularly" meaning my rifle sees the most use during hunting season. It gets "shot" about once a month or so, not enough for me to justify a higher end rifle when the mosin serves my purpose admirably and then some.
As far as building something, I am taking that into consideration and thinking of building a PSA AR, possibly going for something as close to the M16A2 I was issued in boot camp as I can get. If you look at the budget AR thread, you can see the parts I have picked out, a 20" rifle kit and stripped lower. Incidentally, the only tool I have on the list is a butt stock wrench. Would you know of anything else that I would need if I decided to go that route? __________________ LONG LIVE THE REPUBLIC!! |
