Minimum Caliber to Put Down a Feline

I've got a large feline that got bit by a coon and needs to be put down. Any suggestions? I'm leaning towards a rifle at 50, 60 feet.

Be humane, any caliber will work, take your time and center up on the brain box.

Sorry for your loss!

If you've decided there are no alternatives, don't feel bad, it is best for the creature not to suffer.

Had a cat the got into it w/ a raccoon. When it was all over he was missing a chunk at the base of his tail. Took him to the vet. The vet cleaned it and since his shots were up to date he came home. That cat was 14 when he died. 6 years after being bit. Hunted rabbits every day. Never stopped him from his daily rounds.

I'd like to shoot it from the roof though.

Why 50,60 feet Im thinking point blank in the head with a 22 will work everytime.
Sorry for your loss guy Ive had to do it myself more times then I care to think about, its never easy..

I think you nailed it. As one who has had to put down several dogs and cats because no vet was available and the animals were suffering, and hurt like hell every time, I think this has a definite low tide smell.

1-Take it to a damn vet and have it done humanely...

2-Stop asking stupid questions...
