Default The Lucky Hunting Hat...

...retired my old WSU cougs camo hat...wore my stetson to deer season opener and had buddy say it spooks the deer...what do you think? I don't personally believe that mule deer from 100+yds away will notice a straw stetson anymore than my face would make them spook. But thats debatable..either way I guess. Let me know what you think, do you hunt in your stetson, resistol, or what?

tell your buddy he should be more concerned with noise, movement and being downwind than fashion. For how many years did folks go out into the wood wearing checkered black and red jackets? or how about the folks in blaze orange?

If folks dressed in those are able to bag some forest game, i don't think your lucky stetson will be a problem

The only things deer notice is scent and movement.

If your upwind using those stupid deer pee masking scents you will, to a deer, smell like a human covered in deer pee. To a human you smell like deer pee.

Its far more important to stay still and be downwind. You could literally wear clownshoes and a rainbo afro wig dressed like bozo the clown and so long as your motionless and down wind you will bag deer

You have goofy buddy. I had a life long hunting buddy that allways had a stetson on his head. Deer could care less.

Default huntin hat

warner glenn the famous elk/lion guide wears the nastiest /worn out cowboy hat i've ever seen ,but his pack animals have short careers because of spinal issues from of all the elk they pack out . I super glue a set of those googly eyes on the back of all my camo caps so I wont miss seeing a deer behind me
