They are very tuff critters to that bull took a shoulder shot from my ultra an one behind the shoulder an went 200 yrds

Had typo on my distance for my elk, correct is 378 yards, not 478. (post #22)

I use a range finder religiously, even at much shorter shots. When hunting from a fixed stand, I make range finder markers using rocks, trees, whatever. I also keep a log on my kill shots, where I aimed where I hit.

117 yards with a Nef ultra slug 20ga with a Winchester super x sabot slug, the only movement he made was when he fell over.
