How much do you think a coyote hide would fetch?

They were apparently one of the most important fur-bearers (after beavers of course) in early American history, but what about now?

From what I hear, practically nothing in today's economy.

How much would the hide from your dog fetch ?

hogrider 11-28-2011 03:50 PM

Just finding someone that would take it off your hands would be hard let alone sell it.

I doubt you could train a hide to fetch anything, without the muscles and bones the hide would have a very hard time running after a ball or stick. You could try though, you might have some luck with it.

I like how this guy thinks! :D

Regarding coyote hide value: I bet you could hang it up at the local hunting store with a donation cup and do pretty well of the rabbit hunting public. "buy me bullets for the next one"

Fur prices are higher than they've been in decades. China is buying every fur we can send them, and it's possible to make a decent living from trapping once again. Condition is everything, and coyote hide need to be take in cold weather months to be worth much, but good ones sell at auction for anywhere from twenty to fifty dollars, depending on size and condition.

In my area, a good size coyote in a thick winter coat can go on average for $35 if you dont tear em up too bad.
