And if you want to be certain you will survive, the answer is cannister round in a 105mm.

Hey guys, there is a thread that covers this subject pretty thoroughly and what rounds and caliber are effective and where to place the shot. Bear attacks are very rare, unless you are on the menu because Yogi and BooBoo can't find a damn picnic basket.
