RE-Bear, yes...while I have no idea about the restrictions/regulations in NC, as I am not a hunter...yet...I've had bear a few times...tastes just like pot roast, very good eating...

RE-Fish-Regs are easy to abide by, lots of catfish to be had (channel and mud), crappie, bass and everything in between If you're at the beach, surf fishing is a nice way to cash in on red drum, flounder...the list goes on and on...see Portsmouth Island...

RE-Deer...Deer jerky man, DEER JERKY!!!

Six deer should be fairly easy to do since you will be allowed to hunt on base and have the Croatan Natl Forrest to hunt. The base hunts are supposed to be good. Fishing is great in the area. Btw you can also buy additional doe tags if you want after killing six. I put 15 in the freezer this year. Learn to hunt the wind, dont buy into gimmicks, learn to be still and you will kill deer. Check out www.nchuntandfish.com---plenty of info contacts etc.

Limbkiller do you think I care were you live or that your a bad dollar wise fisherman . This is a about a guy moveing to NC to and wants to feed his family and to a some fishing is part of that. The working class has figured that out . Don't know what the heck is around him so just throw'n out some options that should be common sense to most. I can't help it if you have to have a boat with has to use 3 - 150hp engines gas pigs to caught a fish. HA Some of use fish from docks with a light at the deck level at night too for the better fish and little creeks do very well . NC back waters only a john boat is needed for most fishing . Heck your deep V barge may not float in much of the fish water. Guess you should sell your boat from the sound of it.

Go salt water fishing and have a great day. 5 guys in the boat. 5 snapper and 5 grouper. Maybe a couple of mahi mahi. 12 fish with 5# of meat each 60#'s of meat. Boat has 3 150 outboards. 75 gallons of fuel, $4 a gallon. $300 bucks for 60#'s of meat divided by 5 people. That doesn't include bait or fuel in the truck. For what I could catch fish I could eat lobster out of the store cheaper.
If you think you fish or hunt to save money, you are trying to fool yourself. Fishing and hunting for me is for enjoyment, the harvest is a fringe benefit.

Really. LOL I figure with over 20 tree stands, 5 pair of knee high boots, clothing, gas, guns and ammo, $1500 bow, trail cameras, and lots of other things my wife tells me it is about $30 a pound. LOL

I whish you good luck. when I lived in the bush (280 miles from a store) up in Alaska. I had a few very lean meat winters. A lot of cold days out watching for meat. The next step above hunting, when one is hungry.
