I have been addicted since I shot my first coyote... But I hear what you are sayin..the buck fever is on. My Dad and I drew doe tags for hunt that starts 10/22 and we are making most of those into jerky. can't wait for that! Should be able to get two in the same day, we seen so many doe everytime we go out...it's gonna be a matter of picking the biggest one
So we were walking the ATV trail and made it about 2miles in...listening for deer walking below or above. We hear sticks break..paused for a bit...I could feel him coming towards us. waited...then his nose popped through a bush as he made his way over it I could see his horns. He was straight down below me about a 75 degree angle so the bullet's poi wasn't going to be inline with how I sighted it..It will be high. I had the buckfever and was too amped..totally forgot and aimed between the eyes. MISS! he turns around exposing his whole side area...I double tapped him in the lung and when he rolled I shot his back foot off.
We walk down to find him, it was only a 60yd shot or so... we didnt see him go anywhere... But he was nowhere to be found. I mean NOWHERE! we looked high and low for hours...nothing. My bro-in-law who was with me didn't see it because he was behind me...he started doubting I saw anything at all and if I did he didn't believe I hit it. I kept tellin him I would bet my life on it...I know I shot that deer. He said we better call it a miss because its getting dark so we went home. Next day went out to find him and he had crawled uphill to the trail we shot him from and died across the trail. had we just looked up the same trail I shot him from instead of down below it we would have found him.
I was so bummed the night before we found him...thought I lost my buck and thought no1 believed I even shot it. Now they know! The double tap to lung was only 1" a part at best...much like the one I did on a yote a few years ago that was on the move at about 50yds. I got this gun down now...I love it.
here is a pic of the 100yd 3 shot group I did at the 'dial-in session' before we went hunting... It's all custom billet receivers with match trigger, match barrel, and match BCG. heavy duty UBR stock with 16" 1/9bbl M4 contour but fluted. sight is EOTech XPS2-0...fastest sight out there
