They had the show on Mythbusters where they tested shooting bullets into water. Their effective ranges under water were almost non existent and the bullets shattered on impact in the water.

I saw that show - and the rounds from the M-1 Garand they used looked to have plenty of power to kill someone within 4-5 feet of the surface! AS far as shooting fish, that's gotta be the dumbest and most dangerous thing I ever heard!

No, being Liberal is the dumbest and most dangerous thing I've ever heard of.

Many years ago I was in southeast Georgia, not too far from Savannah, and a couple of guys invited to go fishing. Their method was to use an old .22 rifle and a flashlight. They would walk along the creek bank at night and locate fish on their beds with the flashlight. Then they would place the muzzle of the rifle as close as possible to the fish and pull the trigger. The concussion stunned the fish and it floated to the surface. This was highly illegal, even then, but the location of a nearby still protected all who participated. No game warden in his right mind would apporach a moonshine still.

As previously mentioned, shooting at water (or any flat surface for that matter) can be very dangerous. I would strongly recommend against it. Shooting underwater would be absolutely suicidal. I have seen barrels explode due to snowflakes in the barrel or specs of mud! Imagine what total blockage would do with the high pressures associated with modern firearms. All that pressure has to go somewhere.

Even IF the super-air-to-water round fired from a rifle in the super-air-to-water caliber, you would need the super-air-to-water scope. Your POI would be off with conventional air-air gear.
