Default First deer today!

Finally went on my first whitetail hunt and bagged my first deer this morning. Used a Ruger American in 270 with a Vortex Diamondback 3-9x40imageuploadedbyfirearms-talk1388177317.245596.jpgimageuploadedbyfirearms-talk1388177333.426706.jpg
Shot was about 80 yards with the sun in my face. He was angled a little away from me so unfortunately I gut shot him. But he's all field dressed now. So excited!

Gooooood eats there okieboy!

Pan fry butt steaks with a little salt, pepper and garlic powder in plenty of butter, until just mediumish. Pour the pan butter over mashed potatoes, enjoy!

Oh, and congrats on the first of many good venison meals over the years. The only thing better than the meals are the memories!

Nonsense I say. Season to taste, I prefer Tony Chachere's Cajun seasoning, then coat in flour and fry in a 1/4 inch or so of oil. Use the drippings to make gravy to ladle over your country fried deer steak and mashed 'taters. Rice is also a good side to ladle the gravy over.

Congrats on the first deer.
