Default Finally Elk Hunting

Some of my friends finally talked me into hunting with them. They invite me every year. But I did not have a hunter ed card until a few weeks ago. I went paintballing with them last weekend. I mentioned that I had finally gotten my card. I went and picked up a Remmington 30-06. I will be sighting in the scope after work today.

My wife helped me prepare by alerting me that a mouse had infitrated the laundry room. Worthless cats!!!! I took it out with a bb gun. Bring on the elk!!!!

Good luck! Cow elk is some good eating!
Find a likely spot, not too far from camp, set up a nice napping area and bring a good book to read.
I used to hunt S.W. Colo. a lot in my younger days.
Seems the elk always found me when I was not moving.

My friend and his dad were taking a nap in camp a couple of years ago. They woke up to find a Whitetail buck walking through camp. That is the only buck they have ever shot!

Had an awesome weekend. Saw one elk. I was trying to use the take down lever to get my gun off safe. Duh!!! Opportunity missed. My friend took a shot but missed. We were all taken by surprise. We were tromping through the frozen brush making a crapload of noise. We didn't expect to see anything. Then there it was standing there looking at us. We just weren't ready. Great time anyway. Learned how to skin a deer with a golf ball, a rope and an ATV. Too easy.
