Default Fairly new

Hi everyone, i'm Joey. I live in Texas on 22 acres of land. I have a Remington .270 model 700 i think. Synthetic. I have a range on my land. 100 yards. I am fairly new to shooting guns but i know a lot about them. I mostly hunt but i like to shoot assault rifles and handguns. I have had my gun for almost two years but i rarely shoot it because i am afraid of the recoil. Any tips on how to overcome this? I want to learn more about guns and i want to get into the hobby or what its considered. I can always use tips and info. Thanks everyone!

Welcome to the forum. To overcome your fear would be to keep shooting your rifle. You have to get used to it and if you don't shoot it then there is no overcoming the fear.

remington85, what's an assault rifle, is it like a Modern Sporting Rifle? The term assault rifle is frowned upon by many here, and for good reason. It simply doesn't make sense. Assault is a verb, and rifle is a noun. It's like saying "Run Couch" it doesn't make grammatical sense.

All jokes aside welcome to the forum. You will have a great time here.

Don't be afraid of the recoil. Just shoot more often and eventually you wont mind it. If it causes extreme discomfort, shoot a .22.

You can shoot 22LR to become a better shot and learn control. Shooting small caliber rifles helps steady the big ones. works for pistol and rifle. I have heard Pachmyer grips are good for pistol recoil. For rifles I have heard of people using mercury tubes or lead bird shot bedded in the stock to reduce felt recoil.
