Default Change in MS Hog hunting rules / sic 'em

Happy news for MS hog hunters.

The Clarion-Ledger - Outdoors

"Under new regulations passed this summer by the Commission on Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, landowners and sportsmen can now shoot pigs with any caliber rifle or other weapon at any time, 24 hours a day, seven days a week all year. The only no-no is that it is still illegal to bait them with scattered grain (baiting traps is legal)."

"Prior to the change, pigs could only be hunted with firearms that were legal for other game during open seasons, basically limiting pig harvest to open deer seasons."

I'm going to have to start bugging my BIL for access at that deer lease he's in on. I would LOVE to kill some hogs with my SKS.

Dead Bears, the only good kind.

Michigan has done something similar within the last few months, basically,if you are on public lands legally with a gun or bow during any hunting season(small game, large game with a license,or anyone with a CCW)you are told to shoot wild pigs, and you can also hunt wild pigs all year round on private land with no licenses at all.Our DNR even has a paper you can mail to them where you can check off how many pigs or piglets you killed, but it's not required to send the paper in.

The state of OK is over-run with wild hogs. We are allowed to bait hogs but we are not allowed to hunt hogs at night with the aid of a light. One is not allowed to hunt hogs in most of the WMAs with a centerfire rifle outside of deer season.

Then the OWDC goes and kills hogs from helicopters in a couple of the WMAs-go figure.
