I take mine because i sit there and play games on it waiting for my deer to show. It is also a good safety device to have. This year I will have cell phone and GPS with me.

For most game in Kansas, I am pretty sure you cannot use any electric communications to aid the hunt. I think coyote hunting might be the only exception.

Same in Ohio, R-Bolt. It is illegal to use electronic devices to aid in the taking of deer, etc. Coyotes are the exception here as well.

OK,I get what most of you are saying.I carry my phone too, great for emergencies and communication between distant blinds texting is alot quieter than walkies. My point is that when it becomes more of a distraction than help then it is no good. When you expect a person to watch behind you and keep his head in the huntsnd he isnt there mentally, then he shouldnt be there. No I probably wont take that boy again.

I hate cell phones and I hate seeing people driving while talking or texting. I hate "yuppies", and cell phones began life as a "yuppie" staple. That being said I have a Motorola Tracfone- no texting - no monthly bills. It's used only for emergencies and it goes hunting with me also. One of the problems with the world is the the pace that we now function at, as well as the psychotic "need" for immediate information. People are too high strung because of this technology that just 15 years ago we all managed to somehow live without...it reminds me of the calculator craze - I was taught to use my head, not a calculator. People today can't do simple math anymore. If store cashiers didn't have registers that computed change, we'd all be screwed!

I will be taking mine with me this year, but only on silent vibrate. It is excellent for safety or emergencies. I can also notify my hunting partner if i need help getting a deer out of the woods or likewise he to me.

??? I thought the prohibition was just on electronic calls, but maybe that's just a MS vs KS difference (or maybe i need to review the rules).

You said it RL! The truth and nothing but the truth. Whatever happened to walking out of the woods and getting help to carry back game? Does anyone remember the "I'm need help" signal? Three shots fired in a row? Technology is a wonderful thing, but, it can cripple a nation.
