Chuck Hawks wrote a while back that the ideal deer cartridge was between the 7x57, 6.5x55 or their modern ballistic twins the 260 and 7mm-08. I have thought the same for a long time now. Hard to get any more ideal then a 140gr moving 2700-2800fps when you are talking about white tail IMHO. That said I have always been partial to heavy for caliber bullets hence the questions about the 160gr, and that little 120 just shot so good it would be impressive even out of a heavy barrel match gun.
